Text: 1 Kings 12:25-33

I. The Religion of Jeroboam, 1 Ki. 1225-33.
Summary: Those who follow the example of Jeroboam’s religion by neglecting what God has revealed and devising their religion in their own heart, will suffer the devastating consequences.

A. The Components of Jeroboam’s Religion, 1 Ki. 12:25-33.

1. His own heart chose the places of worship.
2. His own heart chose the objects of worship.
3. His own heart chose the servants of worship.
4. His own heart chose the ceremonies of worship,

B. The Consequences of Jeroboam’s Religion, 2 Chr 11:5-17:

1. He promoted darkness, v. 15.
2. He shut out the light, vv. 14,16.
3. He brought destruction & death to future generations, 1 Ki. 14:7-16.

Principle: The only rightful religion is revealed religion.
