The Abrahamic Covenant and Our Salvation

90

Reymond in his book on systematic theology also presents a very helpful discussion on the unity of the covenant of grace in Scripture. He gives 5 very strong arguments showing that the covenant of grace has always been the same throughout history. His first argument is that once the covenant of grace came into expression in the promises of the Abrahamic covenant, that the Abrahamic covenant became the pattern and basis for God's work of salvation for all ages to come. Certainly there was further revelation of God's plan, but it always in terms of the promises given to Abraham, including also the coming and work of Christ.
It is this point and the Scripture passages which speak of this truth that I would like to consider today. I have notes listing all the sub points, so you don't need to try to write them down or remember them. And I also can give you a listing of each verse I mention. There is of course a danger in just citing a bunch of Scripture passages and not looking carefully at the context. Our purpose today is to see the flow of Scripture from the Old to New and see how there is this important connection back to the covenant made with Abraham.
Consider the evidence then that the covenant given to Abraham became the pastern and basis for God's work of salvation for all ages to come.
