Delays to Our Service

129 ( 99 | 30 )

As always we can learn much to benefit us from the instructive and challenging words which deal with the life of God's servant, the Apostle Paul. As the enemies of the Gospel did with him, so with us also they will look for opportunities to silence us, and to ridicule us as we seek to serve God in our own day and generation. The work of serving God, in witness and Christian testimony is oftentimes slow, with little outward reward, but we must endure and hold fast, believing that it is indeed God Himself that has commissioned us to the task. We may understand why the work is slow, as by-and-large the people among whom we labour are spiritually blind, and have no present desire to be disturbed from their spiritual slumber.

Along the way we may have to cope with injustice, as did the apostle, but he kept to his message, so must we! We must continue to believe that there is a judgement to come, and that has to be part of our what we say to a people whose hearts are often hardened against the truth. As God permits, the message we proclaim can have an effect upon our hearers, and we must pray that will be the case.

In a day of unbelief and departure from the things of God we must not surrender the truth, but continue to proclaim it.
