The Fifth Commandment

The fifth commandment is a subject that is very current for us. We live in a day and age where the idea of obedience if fast unraveling. There is a reason for this and we ought to underscore this to apply it to our lives. The world believes in societal evolution, not that the institutions of family, etc. are given by God. We believe that authority exists because God established this in the different relationships in life. Discarding this quickly causes fallout in society. Marriage, the family, the government all are institutions in society that are God given and inherently hold authority. When we view them this way we will not easily lay them aside, but show them honor because they are established by God. This a weighty topic, but we desire to develop the 5th commandment along these lines in this sermon.
