Fruits of Biblical Evangelism

The goal of much modern evangelism seems to be to get a lost sinner to "make a decision for Christ" and to be sincere about it. Such a one is said to have "been saved" regardless of whether or not there is subsequent remaining fruit unto holiness. But the subject and practice of evangelism is one that needs a thorough going biblical reformation. When the Holy Spirit of God regenerated 3,000 sinners at Pentecost the changes in their lives were evident: conversion was followed by believer's baptism, church membership, and continuance in the Apostle's doctrine, fellowship, prayers, and the breaking of bread. These new converts also had a new found love for one another that found practical expression in the meeting of urgent needs. The gospel of Jesus Christ not only changes our status, it also changes our hearts!
