To Keep You

In this section of John 15, Jesus instructs the disciples that the world will hate and persecute them because they belong to Jesus. They hated Jesus because He exposed their sin of rebellion against the true God. They hated the Father and the hated the Son. They would hate His followers as well.
Jesus was preparing them to keep them from falling away when the persecution came. They would desert Him that very night but when the Spirit came to take Christ's place, they would return, be strengthen, and preach His gospel to the world.
