Jon opens with an overview of why we study church history. The church, and its history, is found within the answer to Jesus' question "Who do you say that I am?".

Then Jon goes into detail on Thomas Aquinas, the 4th Lateran Council of 1215, and an introduction to John Wycliffe. Covering topics such as, Christian reason and philosophy, sanctioning of the Crusades, the doctrine of transubstantiation, and bible translation.
