God wants you to know wisdom and to understand insight. This is necessary because people are automatically geared to folly. Wisdom, in Proverbs, is the ability to implement what you know to be right. To do this is to make progress in life easier. Applying biblical truth to everyday life is called wisdom. Moreover, wisdom depends on the order of the universe. Personal wisdom synchronises personal life with the wisdom of the universe. God used wisdom in creation and built it into the created order. In order to choose a wise path you need to expose yourself to wise teaching and relationships. Wisdom helps you to to give up too soon. Fathers need to teach their children. People who don't learn wisdom will choose options that will impact their lives in dramatic ways. Starting with the fear of the Lord will help you to become wise. But to sidestep that is the ultimate folly. So learning the fear of God is the first step toward wisdom. God is wise in making the consequences of folly hard, because they drive fools toward wisdom. Wisdom creates joy that keeps you wise.
