Malachi 03 - Holy Law Unholy Priests A

The reason the priesthood despised the offerings is because they did not understand the covenant of Levi: their total depravity (sinfulness), God's holiness and the grace of God in providing Himself as the sinless sacrifice for those He called. Instead, they taught the people to despised God, condemning them to an eternity in torment.
