Effectual Calling

Those whom God has predestined:

Enlightening their minds spiritually
Giving them hearts of flesh
Renewing their wills
Effectually drawing them to Jesus

1. Meaning: it is God’s particular calling to salvation, which cannot and will not be resisted, but it will effectually draw the person, to willingly embrace Christ.

3. Distinction from Universal Calling

   Matthew 22:14- Universal call to repent
   Acts 17:30- Call can be rejected
   Psalm 110:3- God does not act against our will, we volunteer freely

4. Challenges and Caveats

   It poses a paradox
   It fosters laziness and lack of creativity in witnessing
   It breeds an arrogant intellectualism
