14 - Power of a Fearful and Fearless Wife

76 ( 60 | 16 )

1 Peter contains several examples about submitting to authority even when it is ungodly. We submit not because we fear others but we reverence the Lord. In 1 Peter 3:1-6, Peter exhorts women with unsaved husbands to submit to their authority. While it would seem this passage doesn't apply to most of us, there are principles applicable to every Christian. Also, Pastor Robert Rohlin shares a secret about areas of jurisdiction within the family that many Christians don't know. Yes, the wife should submit to the husband, but Ephesians 5:21 also teaches the husband should submit to the wife. How? Each has areas of jurisdiction and husbands need to learn where there jurisdiction ends and their wife's begins. Proverbs refers to these jurisdictions as the "commandments of the Father" which are a lamp and the "laws of the mother" which are a light. Pastor Rohlin explains this important principle that could help many parents and marriage partners avoid great conflict. It is worth listening even just for this one crucial insight. Pastor Robert Rohlin serves at First Baptist Church Las Colinas in Irving TX -- a family integrated Baptist church in the Baptist Missionary Association.
