Message From A Miracle

83 ( 70 | 13 )

In Joshua 3 and 4, we are reading about a miracle. We are seeing the power of God in stopping the waters of the Jordan when the banks overflowed. The waters stood in a heap and the Israelites crossed over on dry ground. We are led to only a supernatural explanation for this. This was a necessary miracle. It had to take place in God's redemptive purposes. God through the miraculous is bringing His people into their promised redemption. Why did God perform this miracle? God used this miracle as a message. This can be seen from references in these chapters:

Joshua 3:7 - "that they may know"
Joshua 4:21-22 - "When your children shall ask...then ye shall let your children know"

As there was a message for the Israelites in this miracle, so there is a message for all of God's people down through history. We don't live in a day of miracles as the Israelites did but we do serve a God of miracles who is working out His wonderful purposes through the gospel. The message in this miracle is as follows:

  1. God would have the people experience the miracle by the obedience of faith.
  2. God would have the people learn from the miracle
  3. God would have the faith of his people strengthened by this miracle
  4. God would have his people remember the miracle
