Faith and finances

There's a great joy that comes to us from God the Holy Spirit when we surrender lesser (temporal) joys for greater (eternal) joys. We can get more joy by laying up treasure in heaven. It is more blessed to give than to receive. In times of giving, there tends to be greater contentment in God.

It would be foolish to forsake the great treasure of the kingdom of God for this present earthly kingdom. It is foolish to forfeit the true joy of delaying temporal desires for eternal desires. The things on this earth will only fly away. Why set our affection and gaze on them? We don't take any of it to heaven. The kingdom of God is a better investment. Let us plan not a few years, but an eternity ahead.

Christ will come back when every tongue and tribe and nation hears of Him. We should want good for the world. Ministry takes money. Even Jesus's ministry required money. We should use our money for the kingdom to come. But it is not that God needs our money; He wants our hearts. He wants our good.

If we are saved, we will spend our money differently. There is a fundamental connection between our spiritual lives and how we spend our money. Where your treasure is there your heart will be also. If we really do have faith in God's promises of a greater treasure, then we would trust Him and give up all for Him. If you do not give out of the overflow of a regenerate heart, are you saved? We cannot serve two masters.
