Christ and the Old Testament

These four verses serve as a bridge to the second major portion of this Sermon on the Mount, where our Lord will be addressing the erroneous teachings of the Scribes and Pharisees, summed up in several, "You have heard that it was said...but I say to you," statements. Then, we will break down this section into two major headings: 1) The ministry and teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ is wholly in keeping with the teaching of the OT. 2) But, is not in keeping with the teaching of the Scribes and Pharisees. Here is the key principle that we all must come to grips with - God is concerned about the inner you, not the outward appearance.
