A Display of Divine Glory

Peter re-emerges in the Acts narrative here in Acts 9 as he takes a pastoral trip down to Lydda. Guided by the Spirit, he encounters a paralytic named Aeneas who was a disciple of Jesus. Declaring Christ’s healing to this man, Peter commanded him to rise up and walk. When the people of Lydda and the inhabitants of the Valley of Sharon saw Aeneas walking on his feet, they turned to the Lord. Through this display of healing grace, Old Testament prophecy (Isaiah 35) was fulfilled which proclaimed that one day Lydda and Sharon would see the glory of God and rejoice.
