Introduction of the Christ - John's Logos Doctrine
Series The Gospel of John
368
John composed his prologue to introduce and frame the balance of his account. And at the center of his prologue is his doctrine of the Logos. This means that John's gospel must be read through the lens of his understanding of the Logos in relation to Jesus the Messiah. And yet few really consider that the logos concept preceded John and Jesus by many centuries and was familiar to John and his original audience, Jew and Gentile alike. When John spoke of the Logos he wasn't innovating a new idea; rather, he was working from the well-known, pre-Christian concept to the reality of the Logos as it is yea and amen in Christ.
