The Bridegroom's Motive for Taking the Church as His Bride
Series Christ the Church's Bridegroom
162
In this the last in the series, the motive of the Bridegroom is examined: why does Christ take the Church as His Bride and save His people?
The answer is both simple and glorious: because He loves us.
The love of Christ is displayed by the Sacrifice He made to save His Bride the Church. That sacrifice flows from an overwhelming love for us, a heart-felt desire toward the Bride, the Bridegroom's utter delight in His Church.
Christ's motive is His Love for His people. Such an all-consuming love is no doubt one reason the Holy Ghost prompted Paul to use the image of marriage as a description of the relation that Christ has toward His people.
