    David & Nathan -- Levi & Shimei

Spurgeon, preaching on this text said, “Sham repentance can do its work in the mass; it talks about national sin and national sorrow, which generally means he mere notion of sin and the notion of repentance. But when it comes to a true work of the Spirit of God, and men really do mourn for sin so as to obtain pardon, it is a thing which each individual stands in a personal solitude, as much apart from everybody else as if he had been the sole man that God ever made…and had himself so sinned that the whole anger of God for sin had fallen upon him.”
