I. A WOMAN AND HER CHILD (REVELATION 12:1-2)

A. THE WOMAN = ISRAEL

1. Genesis 37:9-10

2. The travail of the woman looks back to the birth of Jesus.

a. The woman is the source of the child.

b. The woman in labor = Israel was looking for a Messiah to deliver them from Roman tyranny.

II. THE APPEARANCE OF THE DRAGON (3-4).

A. HIS DESCRIPTION (3)

1. Great = powerful

2. Red (purros) = signifies death and destruction.

Note verse 9:

• The devil (diablos, which means false accuser) – see v.10.
• The old serpent = points back to his temptation in the garden.
• Satan = adversary (he is opposed to the will of God).
• He deceiveth the whole world (the inhabited earth).

Satan's weapon of choice is deception. Are you being deceived by Satan.

3. Ten horns and seven heads/seven crown = his power/control over earthly kingdoms.
