The Cross Without The Crown

In the second temptation that Jesus faced in the wilderness, the devil offers a deceptive shortcut, an alternative to the painful path of suffering that Jesus knew lay ahead of Him. Jesus is offered all the kingdoms of the world, kingdoms lost to Satan by Adam's fall, if He will only bow to Satan. Jesus' refusal to take the crown without the cross is the basis for our salvation and the pattern we should follow.
