Firm Foundations for a Faltering Faith - Pt 2

128 ( 101 | 27 )

"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity." 2 Timothy 2:19

Timothy was worried. The persecution of the Church was intensifying and many were abandoning the Christian faith and false teachers were rising up from within the Church who were leading others into error. What did the future hold? Fear was getting a hold on this young pastor's heart.

So Paul encourages Timothy with that word "Nevertheless." No matter how bad things get,the foundation of God is unmovable.

In the first message we looked at just what Paul meant by the "foundation of God". This message begins a look into the message that such a firm foundation preaches, especially those whose faith is shaken by the troubles that come into the Church.

In this message, we discover that since the foundation of God stands firm, it assures us that Christians have a firm basis for separation from the world as Paul clearly demonstrates in the surrounding context of this verse. We learn what separation from the world doesn't mean, as well as what it does.
