Sin's Incompatibility

Sometimes incompatibilities are simply nuisances, while other times they may even be deadly. A person cannot breathe through normal means underwater. Someone who for whatever reason becomes trapped underwater must be rescued quickly so that he can get back to the air and breathe again. John introduced the basic idea in the 1 John 2:28-3:3 that we are to bear a family resemblance because we are members of God's family. Tonight he expands on this concept along one specific dimension. In this sermon we will see that sin is incompatible with our Christian life. It is incompatible with our claim of salvation for us to live a life of characterized by sin. We cannot live this way and to allow sin to reign in our lives. This is as deadly as attempting to breathe underwater.
