  1. “Winking the eye” is a subtle communication to an accomplice that takes advantage of a third party who is present. While the range of harm that can be done by this varies, it always causes trouble. But even worse consequences are brought by foolish speech. 2) A person's nature shapes the purpose and outcome of their words. A righteous person's words bring life, and the words of the wicked are a cloak for their violent intentions. 3) We can respond to difficult relational situations with hatred, which causes strife, or with the higher response of love that God calls us to.
