His Spirit Was Provoked Within Him

18

Paul and Silas go to Berea where the people are ready to search the word to see if the things are so. The Jews from Thessalonica walk a hundred miles in order to stop their world from being turned upside down and once again, find people who will riot to stop the gospel. The brethren send Paul on to Athens, while Silas and Timothy remain behind. In Athens, Paul sees the idolatry everywhere and is provoked. Without others there, he still does what he has to do, "woe is me if I do not preach the gospel." He went to the synagogue and to the marketplace. Are we provoked at the widespread rebellion to God? Are we stirred in our hearts so that we do something about it? Do we care enough for God or for the people that we will open our mouths?
