Christ's Church: Submit to Your Elders

In 1 Peter 5:1-4, Peter exhorted the elders in their responsibility to the members of the church. Now, in verse 5, he exhorts the members in their responsibility in return: "Submit to your elders."

This sermon explores three important scripture texts dealing with this responsibility of the members to their shepherds. In Hebrews 13:7,17 the members are to obey and submit to them. In 1 Timothy 5:17-20 they are to honor and guard them. And in 1 Thessalonians 5:12,13 they are to recognize and esteem them.

May God strengthen His churches through His people properly understanding and exercising the roles and relationships of the pastors and members in their local assemblies.
