The gift of life

Payday is usually something to look forward to, but not if there's a foreboding sense of getting what you deserve. And yet that is how we live by nature: the wages of sin is death—it always comes and it is what we really deserve. The only alternative is that life, that life eternal of blessing and bless, which is found in Christ Jesus alone. So how can someone who deserves death because of sin obtain life in Christ: it must be received as the gift of God, a gift freely bestowed and entirely in keeping with the nature and character of the Giver.
