Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done

God's Kingdom coming can be applied to the "now" and the "not yet." His Kingdom is in the spiritual realm, and is where the King is and where His subjects are. We can understand the first part of the petition - Thy Kingdom come - by the second part - Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. The angels and saints in Heaven serve God consistently, cheerfully, quickly, sincerely, and whole-heartedly. For His Kingdom to come means that He is ruling in human hearts, and as they obey in Heaven, so we ought to obey here. The flesh and our sin hinders us from obeying perfectly in this life. But, in James 4:2-3 we are exhorted that we do not have because we do not ask, and when we ask, we ask with wrong motives. If we truly desire and seek for God's Kingdom to come and His Will to be done, in ourselves as well as in the world, we can be confident He will answer.
