The first Supper

Here the types and shadows give way to the substance and its symbols. The old feast of Passover is celebrated as the true Lamb of God comes. The new feast is established as the Saviour of sinners is ready to give his body and shed his blood for his people. And there are stark notes to consider: the betrayal of Judas, the wisdom of God, and the confusion of the disciples, with Christ at the centre of all, as the hope of sinners and the Messiah of God.
