TEXT VERSE: James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

• "Liberty" is one of the dearest words in any language no matter how it may be pronounced. It means: "the quality or state of being free." (Luke 4:14 -19; Luke 4:20-22)
Far too much preaching leaves out the gracious words.

• The Declaration of Independence mentioned, "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." These components served as three examples of unalienable rights given by the Creator to all humans. The final draft of the Declaration states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

• We can understand Life and Liberty but why only the PURSUIT of Happiness? Happy is found four times in the Bible (John 13:4-19; James 5:10-11; 1 Peter 3:14-17; 1 Peter 4:12-16)

• Back to Liberty and this country

• Patrick Henry said, "Give me liberty, or give me death!" at the Second Virginia Convention. He was credited with swinging the balance convincing the convention to pass a resolution delivering Virginian troops for the Revolutionary War.

Patrick Henry stated:
"It is when people forget God, that tyrants forge their chains."
William Penn warned:
"Those who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants."
Daniel Webster stated:
