Here is your King

111 ( 99 | 12 )

John gives us a compelling account of Jesus before Pilate, the Roman governor. It is Pilate, not Jesus, who desperately tries to extricate himself from being caught up in what he considers is a petty religious squabble between a relatively harmless 'would be messiah' and the corrupt Jewish leadership.
At every opportunity he tries to free their ‘king’ but in the end under the pressure of being accused as being disloyal to Caesar he gives in and hands Jesus over to be crucified. Jesus does not plead for Pilate’s mercy.
He simply and regally reveals truth in the face of cynical worldly power knowing that He has come as this world’s true King to give himself to be crucified for the sins of the world. Who would have believed by this cruel and inhumane travesty of justice this ‘weak’ Kingdom would overcome the powers of this present age? He indeed is worthy of all our praise and love!
