Our Master in Heaven

By rendering ungrudging service to their true heavenly owner, bondservants (slaves) had an opportunity to demonstrate that what mattered was not their value in the marketplace but their value to Christ who had spent his own life for their ransom. In this instruction Paul did not condone the ancient system of slavery. Rather, he merely instructed the Ephesian Christians how to function within the bounds of their existing society.
