There are possibly no issues in the world that have caused quite as much friction and misunderstanding as access to resources. Facing the disparity of access to resources has led people to think that if they had more they could be more effective in their faith. This, of course, is disproved by the effectiveness of the early church and Jesus himself. Yes, Christians are encouraged to give according to their capacities, but this is giving that exceeds monetary giving. A generous heart is a beautiful thing that we see in God himself in Jesus. Jesus' effectiveness is proven in poverty. Although he deserved more, he never claimed the right to more. Jesus' gospel is a gospel of future grace that has an impact on our current living.
