Progressing in Faith Through Opposition
Series Philippians
29
I. EXHORTATION (v. 27)
- Wherever you are in life, you are to conduct
yourself in a way that imitates Christ - It should be known to others that the
Christian is rightly representing Christ - Must think and act in unity according to
the Spirit. Don't just hear and approve, but
act in response
II. OPPOSITION (v. 28)
- Opposition is not a reason to fear and
neglect gospel work - In Romans, Paul says to avoid opposers.
Just keep spreading Gospel, God gives the
increase to it - Reality of our salvation should unite us
to strive together for Gospel spread
III. REMINDER (v. 29-30)
- Paul can encourage believers who are
opposed and threatened because he had
himself experienced all forms of suffering
even in jail when he wrote this letter
CONCLUSION: Don't be afraid to proclaim Christ despite the opposition that is out in the world. Paul and many others have suffered for the sake of the Gospel to encourage us to strive side by side for the Kingdom
