Stealing the Little Children

In light of our Lord Jesus' great solicitude towards little children, and what it says about His care for God's children committed to His safekeeping, it is distressing to a believer to see what is happening to thousands of children who are being ripped from the arms of their parents by our government.

Border agents, and other federal law enforcement officers are enforcing the President's new "zero tolerance" policy on illegal immigrants.

But the nation is largely appalled at the consequences - children and parents separated for weeks or even months for no good reason that any of us can see.

Even some of the immigration judges are distressed by the tearful pleas of the parents, asking where their children are.

We have heard all sorts of explanations and excuses why the government claims it must separate children from their families. The Democrats are blamed for passing a law, but it turns out that the government has the legal discretion whether to prosecute adults and take away their children.

Separating children was a known consequence of the President's new policy, and was considered a deterrence against their parents' crossing our border. Our Government intended to take the children all along, as a "technique" to create pain and anguish in the parents, to help enforce the new legal policy.

Thus, the separated children are being used as pawns for leverage in the partisan fight over immigration.

When the cruelty of these separations is pointed out, our government hides behind the law, claiming it has no choice.

It's a good thing that God did not hide behind His law to stop Him from saving His poor lost children. He found a way to free us!
