Reminder to Remember What You Know

190

The Word of God stands all the tests of time remaining the believer's constant and unchanging source of truth. Being what it is and as powerful as it is in the believer's life and growth, the devil is relentless in his efforts to distort it, dilute it, and distract from it so diligence is the ongoing responsibility of the believer to be learning it and living it. The other vulnerability the believer has is human forgetfulness. Forgetting what has been learned which directly impacts living it out. Hence the inspired reminder by Peter to his original readers to remember what you know, to keep learning and growing and seeking the depths of truth revealed in God's Word. The more that is learned makes one all the more in awe of the vastness and depth of the revelation God has given and how little of it is relatively known by comparison. Humility will be a refining and increasing characteristic of the one who is genuinely learning and not merely acquiring knowledge.
