Faith's Daring Behavior

The time came for Ruth to act on the basis of the instructions Naomi had given her to make her plight known to Boaz and to seek that he would undertake the responsibility of being her kinsman-redeemer. Ruth demonstrated the reality of the faith that the Holy Spirit had implanted in her by adhering to every detail of Naomi's instructions, and by recognizing that those instructions had their roots in the revelation of God. As Abraham long before, Ruth went to the threshingfloor with the assurance that God had called her to go but without any certainty as to what the outcome would be. She cast herself entirely on the mercy of Boaz, and he displayed great mercy and promised that, if no other kinsman would undertake that responsibility, he would do it.
