Figures of Speech Part 1

When asked if we take the Bible literally, how should we answer? The best answer is: "I take the Bible literally where the divine author intends the language to be literal, and I take it figuratively where the author means it figuratively." An important aspect of Biblical hermeneutics is to spot and properly interpret figures of speech. In this session, we cover similes, metaphors, synecdoche, and metonymy. Each term is explained with Biblical examples given.
