#6 Mature in Christ

If we were to be granted one wish for this church, what should we ask for? If you were to ask that question to the Apostle Paul regarding the church in Colossae, I know exactly what he would say. Maturity! He would ask for Christians to be maturing in their faith. Paul's desire for the Colossians is Christ's desire for the Colossians. He desires maturity. Why maturity? I want you to think for a moment about a mature tree. You can judge the maturity of a tree in several practical ways. 1) Mature trees can take a beating, where some lesser trees might not. 2) mature trees also provide a lot of shade or comfort to those under them. 3) If a tree is a fruit tree, a mature tree will have a larger produce, a larger quantity of fruit. Behind every good minister of the Word is God himself, taking His message and making it effective. Have you ever wondered why some people get it and others don't? Part of the reason is the work of the Holy Spirit. Who has shown the light in our hearts? God has!
