Genesis 15:1-6

Introduction

1. 'Righteousness'

• Being right with God - Psalm 15:1-2
• Job questioned how can a man be right with God?
• Abram was not a righteous man

2. Abram's struggles (v1-3)

• Fear of reprisals
• Children
  • where is the promised son?
  • Abram's offer to help God keep His covenant

3. God's response (v4-5)

• An heir and a nation

4. Righteousness (v6)

• 'He believed in the Lord'
  • believing God, and
  • trusting in Him alone
• Abram trusted in the Saviour that God would send
• The Lord counted him righteous
