The Son Glorifies the Father

There are three parts to the petition of Christ's high priestly prayer. He asks the Father to glorify the Son, as the Son glorifies the Father and gives eternal life to His elect people according to the Father's sovereign will. The Father gave the Son universal dominion over the souls of all humanity and distinguishing love for His chosen people. Through Christ's justification, the elect receive spiritual, eternal life by God's gracious, merciful gift alone and not according to their will, works, or any other external consideration. Salvation is conditioned on Christ alone.
