The Pitiable Plight of the Lost

In the fourteenth chapter, Jesus described the Pharisees and Scribes as proud (V11) and stubborn (V33). Thus, they were headed for a certain judgment (V35). They are the lost which Jesus so clearly illustrated in the fifteenth chapter. Generally it is said, this chapter tells of lost sheep, lost silver and a lost son. Most emphatically, it tells of a found sheep, silver and a son. They typify God's elect.
