Text: Romans 13:1, Belgic Confession Article 36

In the Article from the Belgic Confession that we study this evening two topics are combined that are considered by many to be "too hot to handle:" Church and State, religion and politics. Just what are we as believers in Jesus Christ to think concerning civil affairs? How are we to act?

Article 36 tells us that:

1. The Church needs the State.
2. The State is to serve the Church.
3. The Rulers are to subject themselves to God's Law, while the Church is to submit itself to Godly Rulers.
