Jesus recalled God's generous and gracious deliverance of Israel (V4-5). Then, left to suffer alone Jesus said I am a worm. First, He made a practical reference to His low estate. Next, He made a redemptive reference. This kind of worm produced a red substance that was used to make a red dye. From Jesus suffering unto death came His blood by which God cleansed His people.
