In a Fallen World, Part 3

138

Why has God not sent relief from the contagion, chaos, and crimes related to COVID-19?

Are the prayers of huge numbers of professing Christians being hindered as we continue to live under this pandemic? (1Peter 3:7)

As we continued to reflect on how the first century church coped in dealing with the often hostile authorities under whom they lived, we began a look at the differences between males and females.

Peter describes women as delicate vases as over against old clay pots (1Peter 3:7).

Peter's words are similar to Paul's in Ephesians 5:22, where he describes believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit as those who regularly submit to one another.

Wives are to submit to their own husbands, and husbands are to submit to their own wives: mutual submission. But they submit differently.

Wives are to submit to their husbands' desires, unless such submission would force them to sin against Christ (Ephesians 5:22-24).

But husbands are to submit to their wives' needs, and this calling is modeled on Jesus Christ who made himself nothing for the sake of his bride, the Church (Ephesians 5:25).
