Taking Away the Approach

First Samuel 17 pictures a great enemy (Goliath)—formidable in every way. Israel is outmatched, and they know it. But David knows his God, and he is consumed with holy zeal for the Lord's glory and name. How dare anyone defy the living God? We will learn how David's faith is both an encouragement to trust the Lord, and a shadow of what has come in Christ, the One who brought victory through human weakness, bearing away the reproach of sin.
