The Shepherd for the Sheep
Series A Survey of Biblical Salvation
Thus far in our survey of biblical salvation we have not directly addressed the question of the extent of Christ's atonement. Historically, this has been a subject of great controversy that has often generated more heat than light. I want to approach the subject today, but not polemically - i.e., I don't want to merely state opposing views and argue for one and against the other. I want to approach the issue pastorally - i.e., in a way that will glorify God and help you to enjoy him forever. I want to show you what the Bible says not to help you to win arguments with your friends but to bring you even closer to God our Savior. In this message we'll consider how Jesus is the Good Shepherd, who the sheep are for whom he died, and some necessary implications for believers, for unbelievers, and for evangelism and missions...
