Divine Guidance; Biblical Decision Making and the Will of God

208

In our look into understanding decision-making and discerning the will of God its important to realize that it is utterly impossible to know anything about God's will unless you know something about His character and attributes.

In this lesson, we delve into the vast expanse known as the sovereignty of God. But what do we mean when we say that God is sovereign?

Arthur Pink wrote of God's sovereignty, 'Being infinitely elevated above the highest creature, He is the Most High, Lord of heaven and earth. Subject to none, influenced by none, absolutely independent; God does as He pleases, ony as He pleases, always as He pleases.' This is biblically true.

Yet it can be at the same time offensive to man. J.C. Ryle said this, 'Of all the doctrines of the Bible, none is so offensive to human nature as the doctrine of God's sovereignty.' Why? Simply because we want to be in control. We want to be master of our own life and this doctrine interferes with that.

But the fact remains, unless and until we embrace and accept God's sovereignty in our lives, we will never know God's will for our lives. Join us as we explore this crucial doctrine and how it relates to decision making and the will of God.
