Hallowed Be Thy Name

What are we praying when we pray "Hallowed be Thy Name"? We are asking God, our Father, to MAKE the world regard, honor, love and fear Him. The glory of God is the motivating principle behind everything that God does. It is the reason we exist, the reason for planet Earth and all the galaxies. It is why God does whatever He does, and it is the basis for all our duty to God and men. It is what makes the world go around. In light of that, it is not surprising that it would be the first petition of the model prayer. When we love God, we love for Him to be loved, respected and honored, and we are burdened and grieved by the fact that He is so dishonored in the world. "Hallowed be Thy Name" is the expression of that burden. May God get the glory He deserves to have.
