The vessels of the brazen altar

The tabernacle was divided up into three sections, the Holy of Holies, the Holy place, and the outer court. Before one could come into fellowship with God as signified by the Holy place and Holy of Holies one had to pass through the outer court and specifically by way of the brazen altar. That altar represents the work of Christ on the cross. We are told in Lev.9:24 that the fire fell from Heaven to start the fire on the altar, and in Lev. 6:13 God gave the commandment to never let it go out. There is with all of this a side note that doesn't get a great deal of attention. In verse three of our text we are told of vessels being required for the service of the altar. In no wise were these instruments needed for the altar to do its job but they are needed for the priests and as 1 Peter 2:9 tells us we are a royal priesthood. Meaning now that we are saved we have a job to do.
