How Real is Your Respect of the Lord? (Jonah 1:10-16)

Main Point. According to the book of Proverbs, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom (1:7; 2:5; 9:10). It leads to life and delivers from harm (19:23). It can be thought of as being synonymous with faith. It responds to God in a way that is appropriate to who God is and has revealed Himself (the sovereign Lord, Creator, and Provider of all things, the Redeemer of the lost and the Judge of all the earth). Who really respects (fears) the Lord in this account? How about you? How real is your respect (fear) of the Lord?
